Project Details
Courtyard Pool House reworked the relationship between a large terrace, the pool, and the main living spaces. The client used the outdoor area often, but there was not enough shade, the seating felt scattered, and the pool zone did not connect naturally to the interior.
What needed solving
The site receives strong afternoon sun, so comfortable outdoor use depended on more than adding loungers. The layout needed distinct areas for swimming, meals, and quiet sitting, while planting had to provide privacy without blocking light or long views.
Design approach
We used the pool as the centre of the plan, arranged shaded seating along one side, and added a pergola for longer dining and hosting. Arched openings align the interior and exterior spaces, making movement through the house feel continuous.
Shade structures reduce direct sun in the most-used seating areas.
Planting softens hard edges and improves privacy around the terrace.
Exterior lighting extends use of paths, steps, and seating after sunset.
