Slatwood Suite
Slatwood Suite reshaped a compact bedroom into a layered, restful retreat with a timber feature wall, soft upholstery, and a small reading corner. The design brings together practical bedside lighting, quiet storage, and enough texture to make the room feel personal rather than staged.

Project Details
Slatwood Suite is a bedroom refresh for a compact urban apartment. The client wanted the room to feel more restful at night, offer a usable place to read, and move away from a layout that left the bed floating in an otherwise empty space.
What needed solving
The existing bedroom relied on one overhead fitting and did not have a clear visual anchor. Storage was scattered, bedside surfaces were limited, and there was no comfortable spot to sit away from the bed.
Design approach
A timber-slat wall was used to define the sleeping zone and bring warmth without introducing heavy colour. Pendant lights free up bedside tables, while a compact lounge chair by the window gives the room a second use during the day.
Bedside pendants provide reading light without crowding the surfaces below.
The slatted wall adds texture and hides minor service runs.
A muted green chair and planting add colour in small, controlled amounts.
“I wanted the room to feel finished and quiet, rather than simply furnished.”
Area | Solution |
|---|---|
Sleeping zone | Timber feature wall with integrated lighting. |
Reading corner | Compact lounge chair and focused floor light. |
Evening use | Layered lighting instead of a single ceiling source. |
The room now works as a calm, practical retreat with a stronger sense of order.
